The practice was first established in Hartlepool in 1950 with one veterinary surgeon. In the 1960’s surgeries were opened in Billingham and Horden, and in 1980 our Sedgefield branch was opened.
We were a mixed practice treating farm animals as well as domestic pets up until 2000, when we became a small animal practice only - looking after mainly dogs and cats but increasing numbers of small pets – rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, chinchilla, birds, tortoises and reptiles to name just a few.
We now have a team of 7 veterinary surgeons – the three partners being Angela Holroyd, PeterSmith, and Peter Pighills, the four assistant vets are Stephanie Parkin, Tristram Moody, Moira Hamilton and Jen Spiers
The vets are supported at the Hartlepool surgery by our 3 qualified Registered Veterinary Nurses – Sue Gibson, Lisa Kelsey and Kayleigh Thomas, 4 practice nurses – Louise Craggs, Nichola Sneddon , Alice Brimble and Donna Wren, and 1 Practice Nursing assistant Michelle Oliver.
We hold surgeries at all clinics 6 days a week by appointment , which are listed under each of the Practices.
