Anaesthetic Advice

One of the biggest concerns pet owners have is their animal going under an anaesthetic and the risks involved.

At Clifton Lodge use Alfaxan as our induction agent and maintain anaesthetics isoflourane gas. Both of these have been shown to have wide safety margins and are suitable for a wide range of pets and breeds.

We recommend pre-anaesthetic blood tests to make sure there are no underlying health conditions we need to be aware of before anaesthetising. We also recommend intravenous fluids both to aid removal of anaesthetic from the system and to maintain blood pressure throughout surgery, making the anaesthetic even safer.

All patients undergoing surgeries or procedures requiring anaesthetic or sedation are closely monitored.
