Flea, Tick and Worm

We can advise on and provide the best products and routines to keep your pet healthy, happy and free from pests.

Cats and dogs

Fleas are a very common pest which can be difficult to tackle once a population is established in your home.

This is why it is so important to prevent them through a regular regime of treatment.

These treatments will stop fleas biting your pet in the first place, which is vital for their welfare as a flea bite can cause them an uncomfortable allergic reaction.

Worms also cause misery for your dog or cat with heavy infestations often causing digestive problems.

It is also worth remembering that roundworms pose a risk to the health of humans, especially children. It is therefore vital that dogs and cats are wormed every three months.

Our message is to nip the problem in the bud with preventative treatment.

To keep your pet on top form and to avoid the discomfort and possible health problems associated with parasites, come to the surgery and we will give you the best advice on which product to use on your cat or dog.

Rabbits

Rabbits are also prone to parasitic problems including scurf, which affects the shoulders in particular. It is caused by mites living on the surface of the skin, which can be treated effectively as can rabbit fleas.

Another distressing problem for rabbits in hot weather is fly-strike – an infestation of maggots, which if left untreated can be fatal. There are several products available to treat this distressing condition.

Rabbits can fall prey to the intestinal parasite coccidia, which can cause serious illness and sometimes death. Our staff will advise on treatment and preventative measures such as cage hygiene.
